What Is AI Discovery for Small Business?

The short version: A discovery session looks at how you spend your week and finds the tasks that could be handled faster, cheaper, or automatically with today's tools. It is a conversation about your workload, not a tech assessment.

Who it is for:

  • Business owners who feel buried in admin that has nothing to do with their actual trade or skill
  • Anyone who finishes a full day of work and feels like they never got to the thing that actually matters
  • People who have heard AI is a big deal but have no idea what it means for their specific business

No tech knowledge required. You just need to know your business. That is the only expertise involved.

The Two Buckets: Saving Time vs Unlocking New Work

Two labelled buckets side by side: Save Time with task icons and Unlock New Work with opportunity icons

Discovery looks at your workload through two lenses:

Saving time on what you already do:

  • Quoting, invoicing, and sending documents that follow the same pattern every time
  • Copying information between systems or updating records by hand
  • Chasing responses, sending confirmations, and closing the loop on enquiries

Unlocking things you have not had time for:

  • Posting on social media consistently instead of once every few weeks
  • Asking happy customers for a Google review while the job is still fresh
  • Following up on leads that went quiet weeks ago

A good discovery session covers both sides. It is not just about doing things faster. It is about picking up the jobs that have been sitting on the "I will get to it eventually" list.

What the Discovery Process Actually Looks Like

It is a conversation, not a tech audit. No questionnaire, no jargon, no requirement to understand how any of this works behind the scenes.

How it runs:

  • We walk through a typical week: where does your time go, what gets forgotten, what do you wish someone else would handle
  • From that, we map out what is realistic and what is not worth the effort
  • We also draw the line honestly: not everything should be automated, and we will say so

The output is a short list of clear opportunities, ranked by impact and effort, so you know exactly where to start.

You Do Not Need to Understand AI

You know your business. That is enough. You do not need to understand the tools. You just need to know where your time goes and what frustrates you.

Real example:

  • A Perth trades business owner was spending roughly 6 hours a week on quoting and another 3 chasing follow-ups
  • Discovery found those two tasks plus two more: automated Google review requests and a proper lead capture from the website
  • Four opportunities, none requiring the owner to learn anything new. Close to 10 hours a week recovered.

Discovery bridges the gap between "AI is changing everything" and "here is what it actually does for you, specifically."

Discovery FAQ

How long does a discovery session take? Most run between 60 and 90 minutes. Some are shorter if the business is straightforward.

Do I need to know anything about AI beforehand? No. You need to know your business and where your time goes. We handle the rest.

What if AI is not right for my business? Then we tell you that. Discovery is not a sales funnel. If there are no real opportunities, or the timing is not right, we will say so.

How much does it cost? Discovery sessions are complimentary. The goal is to work out whether there is a real fit before anyone commits.

What happens after discovery? You get a short summary of what we found: the opportunities, the priority order, and what building each one involves. From there, it is your call. The next step is the build phase.

Can you do it remotely? Yes. Most sessions happen over a video call. If you are in the Perth metro area we are happy to meet in person.
