For us, the first conversation is free. After that we work on a flat fee or hourly rate that's set up front, so there are no surprises. We're not a big-vendor consultancy with multi-month retainers. Most small business engagements are done in under a week of total time across a few short calls.

How do I prepare my business for AI?

The honest answer: you don't need to prepare the way the marketing makes it sound. The most useful thing is to know where your hours go each week and where the same task gets done twice. What if I'm not very techy?
